MetLife Investment Management Freshman & Sophomore Externship

The MetLife Investment Management Future Leaders Program is a virtual experiential learning externship created to provide freshman and sophomore students with broad exposure to different careers in investment management. Areas of focus will include:

  • Commercial Real Estate and Agricultural Finance
  • Public Fixed Income
  • Private Capital
  • Insurance Asset Management
  • Client Services
  • Institutional Client Group
  • Affiliated Insurance Company

Throughout the Future Leaders Program, students will be able to:

  • Participate in an immersive learning experience including a fundamental overview of institutional asset management and financing solutions, personal branding, and transferable skills workshops.
  • Meet top students and network with experienced investment professionals to learn about different career paths at MIM.
  • Cultivate valuable skills and foundational knowledge, while also receiving the opportunity to interview for the MIM Summer 2025 Internship Program, subject to meeting eligibility requirements.

Program Eligibility

The Future Leaders Program is open to any current undergraduate freshman or sophomore student (rising sophomores and rising juniors) with a strong academic background and an interest in learning about careers in investment management from seasoned professionals. Members of diverse and/or historically underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to complete the questionnaire, including but not limited to female, Black or African-American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian, Indian/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, Native American, or two or more races, LGBTQ+, military or veterans, or students with disabilities. Only students with graduation dates between December 2025 and June 2027 are eligible for this program.
